Dr. Ahmed Audi, the Nigeria Security, and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Commandant-General has denied claims that NSCDC and the Nigeria Police Force have competing obligations.

When Audi appeared on the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja, he denied the allegations.

Following the national security policy paper issued by the office of the National Security Adviser, he said that the corps was a specialized agency established by the Nigerian government with a very specific mandate.

He claims that it is quite plainly mentioned there that the Corps is a leading organization in the field of vital infrastructure and national assets.

The NSCDC and Police, according to Audi, have kept focused on performing their duties without engaging in any kind of competition with anyone, thus there is no justification for the need for a merger.
