Lagos Police Condemns Lagos Lawyer Killing, Detains Policeman.
Nigerians are very annoyed over the reckless behavior of an unidentified policeman who shot a Lawyer, named Bolanle Raheem in the Ajah area of Lagos State on Christmas day.
The Lagos State Police Command has issued a statement condemning the actions of the unknown policeman. According to the statement issued by Benjamin Hundeyin the police spokesperson of Lagos State Abiodun Alabi, the state’s Commissioner of police has sympathized with the family of Bolanle Raheem.
He further said that the policeman has been detained alongside all the members of his team, and the Commissioner of Police has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for proper investigation.
He also added that such incidents have become too rampant in the Ajah area as something similar to this nature happened in that same area last week, which is against the professional ethics and codes of the force, as it is embarrassing to the police force in Nigeria
said, “The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Abiodun Alabi, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of barrister Bolanle Raheem, who was shot dead by a police officer in Ajah on Sunday, December 25, 2022.
On the instruction of the CP, the errant officer has since been taken into custody alongside his team members. The CP has equally directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, for in-depth investigation.
This has become one too many, especially bearing in mind that a similar incident occurred at the same location less than three weeks ago. The condemnable incident is against the standard operating procedures and rules of engagement of the force, and to say the least, is embarrassing.
Amongst every other thing, the policemen in Nigeria need serious training and workshop seminars as most policemen in Nigeria do not even know what it entails to be in the force, they end up misusing the privilege of being in the force
