A suspect in the horrific murder of 14-year-old Almajiri student Bashir Adamu, whose decapitated body was discovered with his genital removed, has been taken into custody by the Jigawa State Police Command.
The event happened along Jikas-Dabaja village in the Gwaram Local Government Area, according PUNCH Online on Friday.
It took two days for locals to find Bashir’s body after he went missing. Later, his identification was verified by his family.
SP Shi’isu Adam, the command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest on Friday night, saying the suspect was in custody but declining to provide further information.
“We have made an arrest in connection with the killing of the Almajiri student, but I won’t be able to provide more details for now.
“As the investigation continues, the police are urging residents in the state to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities to ensure that those responsible for the heinous crime are brought to justice,” Adam said.
He stated that additional updates would be released in due time.
