The officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Nasarawa Command had on Saturday, December 10, arrested a 75-year-old man identified as Isa Nana Okpoku from Daddare Development Area in Obi Local Government Area of the state for reportedly raping his 4-year-old niece.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, had made the report through a statement on Sunday morning, stating that Okpoku was apprehended after a report was lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters in the state at about 08:00 am.
According to Nansel, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and his niece were both living in the same house so it was easy for him to lure the victim into his room where he wilfully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.”
“The victim was, however, taken to the hospital for medical examination where the doctor confirmed that her hymen was broken.”
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Maiyaki Mohammed Baba has already ordered a comprehensive investigation into the offense, upon which the suspect will be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction for prosecution.”
