Reports have confirmed that Pope Francis left the hospital on earlier today, June 16, after undergoing a hernia surgery.
He is now reported to be at the Vatican, where he will be extremely monitored ahead of his busy work schedule in the summer.
The 86-year-old pope has been suffering a series of health issues since he was elected in 2013.
His health related problems had ranged from hip problems, knee pain and weight gain to an inflamed colon and a respiratory infection.
This hospitalisation will make it his third one since 2021.
The Argentinian pontiff had undergone a three-hour operation under general anesthesia on June 7 to get rid of a painful hernia on the site of a scar from previous surgery.
Meanwhile, the Vatican has postponed papal audiences until June 18 to give the pontiff time to heal and recover.
