President Tinubu Returns to Nigeria After Two-Week Trip Abroad

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja, Nigeria, after spending approximately two weeks abroad. The president had been on a working leave in the United Kingdom, despite the country’s ongoing challenges. His Chief of Staff defended the trip, citing it as part of the president’s privilege, he insinuated that the President can go wherever he likes as part of his leave.

Timeline of the Trip

Tinubu departed for the UK on October 2, 2024, for the two-week leave. On October 11, he traveled from the UK to France for what was described as “another important engagement,” according to his Senior Special Assistant on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Masari.

Return and Reception

On Saturday evening, Dada Olusegun, the Special Adviser to the President on Social Media, confirmed Tinubu’s return from the UK in a tweet. The president was welcomed back by key figures including his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
