Adrien Rabiot has recently committed to a one-year extension of his contract with Juventus until 2024, stirring up debates among football enthusiasts.

The French midfielder’s decision to remain in Turin was met with mixed reactions, given the turbulent season Juventus experienced, finishing seventh in Serie A and failing to secure any trophies. However, Rabiot’s individual performance stood out as a shining light amidst the darkness. Since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, he showcased significant improvement and became a standout player in Serie A during the 2022/23 season. Scoring 11 goals across all competitions after a goalless previous season and providing six assists, Rabiot’s impressive form attracted interest from other prominent clubs.

Now the question arises: Was it a wise move for him to renew his contract with Juventus, considering the attention he garnered from other major clubs?

Reports suggest that Manchester United is among the clubs showing interest in Rabiot, especially after their remarkable comeback during the 2022/23 season. Undoubtedly, Manchester United has become an attractive destination for players. On the other hand, Juventus faced several issues that negatively impacted their league position, including a 10-point deduction for illicit transfer activity. Additionally, there is a looming possibility of a UEFA ban for the club, potentially excluding them from European competitions for a season due to alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play rules. Despite earning a place in the Europa Conference League, Juventus might not participate in European football next term.

Considering these circumstances, one might question whether Rabiot made a miscalculated decision by choosing to remain with his current club. His outstanding performance last season could have served as a stepping stone to join a prestigious club elsewhere. Nonetheless, Rabiot made the conscious choice to stay loyal to Juventus.

Ultimately, the evaluation of Rabiot’s decision as wise or unwise hinges on your perspective regarding the matter
