A US District judge had dismissed the lawsuit filed by a Nevada woman against Christiano Ronaldo. The woman had claimed that the Manchester player had raped her in Las Vegas in 2009 and was requesting additional money which could amount to millions after being paid three hundred and seventy-five thousand dollars in settlement.
The case was dismissed by Judge Jennifer Dorsey because the woman’s lawyer, Leslie Mark Stovall, had used inappropriate documents for her case. The judge had described the use of the document as bad faith and outrightly dismissed the right to file it again. Although she said this was a severe sanction but it was worth it because Ronaldo had been harmed by the lawyer’s actions.
Ronaldo had released a statement in 2018 stating that he found Rape an abominable crime that he would not indulge and he firmly denied the rape case. His team of lawyers had also said that although he had sex with her what he had with the woman was consensual sex. They also said that there was a confidentiality agreement that prevented both his team and the woman from talking about it.
