The Golden Globe Awards have come and gone but I still can’t get over the amazing fits that graced the red carpets at the award show. From Natalie Portman to Jennifer Lawrence, Selena Gomez and Billie Eilish, it was a truly star-studded event. The highlight of the show for me, however, was Ayo Edebiri’s award speech. What a woman!
In case you’re unfamiliar with this awards ceremony, don’t fret. The Golden Globes Awards are accolades bestowed for excellence in both the American and International film and television space.
The awards ceremony has been held every year since 1944, to honor artists, professionals and their work. The 2024 Golden Globes is its 81st one.
This year’s Golden Globes has been touted as the ‘opening act’ for a month-long award season, which in turn means it is the red-carpet season; one of my favorite times of the year.
Hollywood’s A-list celebrities did not disappoint on the red carpet this year but this article is for the ones who went above, and beyond and then some more at the awards ceremony.
Here are five of my favorite looks from the Golden Globes, in no particular order:
Dua Lipa:
Donned in a black Schiaparelli trumpet gown with diamond bone embellishments, the ‘Houdini’ crooner stunned on the red carpet. This is just as fitting as this is the singer’s first Golden Globes nomination due to her role in the Barbie Movie’s anthem: “Dance the Night,” which was just one of the many songs that soundtracked the film. Lipa accessorized with a pair of Jimmy Choo heels and a rare 1962 Tiffany & Co. topaz necklace.
Rosamund Pike:
Pike’s textured Dior couture dress is probably the most gushed-about red carpet fit on the internet at present –next to Hunter Schafer’s of course. The actress was possibly channeling goth vibes with her outfit but the star of the moment was the matching protective veil by Philip Treacy which she wore on her head. The entire look was sealed with a pair of black chunky-heeled satin shoes and Boucheron jewels.
Hunter Schafer:
Styled by the iconic Dara Allen –the awesome stylist, Schafer’s dress has to be my best fashion look yet, for the year.
The Euphoria break out star graced the Golden Globes Awards’ red carpet in a floor length semi-sheer Prada wrap-around dress with an impressive, asymmetrical train. A lot of fashionistas have described this look as ethereal and I cannot help but agree. The dress was obviously made to be the center of attention as Schafer opted for a ‘barely there’ makeup look with a rosy cheek.
Ayo Edebiri:
This lady in red won both in the red carpet and for her role in the Hulu series: ‘The Bear’. Edebiri stepped out on the red carpet in a red strapless Prada gown with a floor-length organza train. She also debuted her shortest hair yet at this red carpet. She accessorized with metallic dangling earring and red pumps. Overall, the look is coy and yet chic at the same time.
Margot Robbie:
Everyone’s beloved actress did not disappoint –yet again! Robbie brought back the famous Barbie pink hue on red carpet in a custom Armani Privé gown.
The bright pink gown features sequins, a V-neck and a matching tulle shawl. She accessorized with a sparkling clutch, and some pointy heels.
Wonderful! Hunter Schafer was my best dressed for Golden Globes too 😁
