The African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) is upon us once again for the 10th time and our beloved and well-known celebs stepped out to the red carpet, buoyed with the hope of going home with an award (or two) as the ceremony ended.

The AMVCA is an annual award ceremony organized by MultiChoice, to recognise the outstanding achievements of individuals in the television and film industry.

While some of our favorite actors and actresses may have lost out in the award department, they definitely clinched the ‘best fashion moment’ for the evening.

This year’s AMVCA event was held at Eko Hotel and Suites, in Lagos State, Nigeria.

The Fashion Hits:

Nana Akua Addo:

Nana Akua Addo

This Actress was an architectural vision in her Heidi Lee custom-made gown. While her 3D non-conventional material ensemble was the star of the show, her headgear definitely sealed the deal. A complete 10/10 look in my opinion.

Toke Makinwa:

Toke Makinwa

The host with the most showed up for the event looking out of this world in a Veekee James bespoke metallic gown. Even though she wouldn’t be participating in the best dressed competition later on because she’s the host for the event, I dare say she would have given the competition a run for their money in this ensemble.

Alex Ekubo:

Alex Ekubo

This Nollywood actor looked dashing in a black bespoke Deji and Kola black suit studded with white crystals.

Nini Singh:

Nini Singh

Nini was a sight to behold in her custom Queenfrank Collection mermaid gown that featured a nude body net and white, green and gold sequins on the body and tail of the dress.

Simi Drey:

Simi Drey

Simi’s attire stood out from the rest of her peers as she donned a black breastplate over a similar coloured lace skirt adorned with crystals.

Osas Ighodaro:

Osas Ighodaro

Once again, this actress dazzled both her fans and naysayers with her custom Veekee James outfit, solidifying her status as a fashion icon at the AMVCAs.

Beauty Tukura:

Beauty Tukura

The former big brother Naija housemate wore a custom Emagine by Bukola gown that I couldn’t tear my eyes off.

Elozonam:

Elozonam

Elozonam’s look this year took my breath away —a very fitting idiom given that he was going for an ethereal vibe. I love how he embodied the trending skirt-over-pants look and the white rose boutonnière adds the oomph to the entire ensemble.

Chike:

Chike

I absolutely love it when men are daring and open to being adventurous with styles and Chike’s look at the AMVCA did just that. The Egwu Singer looked rather dashing in an orange and pink attire featuring mini yellow and green stylised patches.

Akin Faminu:

Akin Faminu

Mr Faminu’s custom made Atafo suit was very impressive. From the picture below, you can see that a lot of creativity went into the tailoring. The spotless white suit, handcrafted with precision, features a striking detail in the left cuff: a black dragon breathing yellow flames.

The Fashion Misses:

Idia Aisien:

Idia Aisien

I had mixed feelings about Ms. Aisien’s look, but ultimately, I didn’t like it. I understand that she took inspiration from Gigi Hadid’s 2022 Met Gala look but unfortunately, it didn’t give the intended result.

Yvonne Jegede:

Yvonne Jegede

This would have been a total slay if the crafted flowers at the back were binned. Seriously, what were the flower stems for?

Larry Hector

Larry Hector

Larry HectorI like that he was daring in his all-red outfit but the red was just too much to handle. The look would have been better if he swapped the shoes and gloves with a less overwhelming color like black.

Laura Ikeji

Laura Ikeji

Just like Mr. Hector, the orange was too much for my eyes. I however, liked the chiffon, fin-inspired design on the skirt and arm of the dress.

Sheggz Olusemo

Sheggz Olusemo

I initially thought Sheggz wore loungewear to the AMVCA of all places, but upon closer inspection, his attire didn’t look so different from my initial thought. I find it hard to believe that this look was styled by a professional. In fact, if you asked me, I’d say he rolled out of bed, grabbed the first clothes he laid his hands on in his wardrobe and called it a day.

Wonderful compilation????. However, I don’t think Chuke’s outfit was a hit. It’s not bad but could have been better.
