Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo State,  had on Thursday, stated that the rejection of old naira notes was a flagrant disobedience to the law. The governor had made this remark during a state-wide broadcast.

According to Akeredolu, rejecting the old naira notes would weaken the nation’s economy and lead to great harm to local trade and business transactions.

The Ondo State Governor had then appealed to commercial banks to increase the circulation of all currencies at their disposals and to also devise a more effective way to ease the queues in the banks while urging the state residents to accept the old naira notes together with the new notes as stipulated by the law.
