Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema received a royal plaque from the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, while visiting the palace. The visit occurred prior to Rema’s homecoming concert scheduled to hold in Ogbe Stadium in Benin City.
This comes at the backdrop of another milestone in the life of the singer. On Wednesday, Rema supported Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki at the ground breaking of Edo Arena. During the event, Governor Obaseki announced that the 6,000-capacity arena would be named “Rema Dome” in honor of the star.
Rema’s most recent release, “Benin Boys” with Shallipopi as a fellow Edo artist, is symbolic with emotional representation of Benin City. In the song, Rema expressed that he deserved a medal from the Oba for his efforts in promoting the kingdom. This recognition from Oba Ewuare II adds a meaningful chapter to Rema’s growing legacy.
