The United States has advised its citizens in the United Kingdom to remain vigilant after British authorities raised the country’s terrorism threat level to “severe”.
The warning followed an antisemitic stabbing attack in Golders Green, North London, where two Jewish men — identified as Shloime Rand and Moshe Shine — were injured on Wednesday.
The UK government on Thursday increased the national terror threat level from “substantial” to “severe”, indicating that a terrorist attack is considered highly likely.
The Metropolitan Police classified the stabbing as a terrorist incident.

UK Security Minister Dan Jarvis said the decision was not based solely on the North London attack but was also linked to rising concerns over Islamist extremism and far-right threats.
In a security advisory issued on Friday, the US Embassy in the UK urged Americans to exercise caution and remain security conscious while in the country.
“Stay alert in public places, including schools, hospitals, churches, tourist locations, and transportation hubs. Vary your travel routes and times to reduce predictability,” the embassy said.
“Keep a low profile. Remain aware of your surroundings, including local events. Review your personal security plans. Report social media threats and suspicious activity to local authorities. Monitor local news for updates.”
The development comes amid growing security concerns in the UK following recent attacks targeting Jewish communities and other sensitive locations.
