Nigerian News in a Nutshell

Just when you think you’ve heard it all in this great nation of ours, another shocker! The National Judicial Council (NJC) is blowing the whistle on a ridiculous scam targeting our esteemed retired judges. Apparently, some smooth-talking crooks are dialing up these legal veterans, promising to speed up their retirement benefits – for a price, of course!

The Council Says Hands Off!

The NJC wants to make one thing crystal clear: they will never ask for money to process retirement benefits. These fraudsters are nothing but common thieves trying to line their pockets with the hard-earned cash of our retired judges. Don’t you just hate these lowlifes?

The statement read in part “The attention of the National Judicial Council has been drawn to the incessant phone calls being made to retired Judicial Officers by some unscrupulous individuals demanding payments to fast track the processing of their retirement benefits.

“The National Judicial Council by this medium, informs retired Judicial Officers and members of the public to disregard such phone calls as NJC would never demand money from any Judicial Officer to fast track the payment of his retirement benefit.

The public is hereby advised to be wary of and report such calls to the Pension Department of the Council for appropriate action”.

This Ain’t Just About Judges

Now, this phone scam isn’t just an insult to our esteemed judiciary, it’s a symptom of a larger problem. Scammers are running rampant, causing chaos and heartache across the country. Just look at the numbers! According to a recent report, financial fraud losses in Nigeria skyrocketed by over 200% in just one quarter! That’s billions of Naira vanishing into thin air, thanks to these criminals.

Here’s the Bottom Line:

If you, a friend, or a family member gets a call promising to speed up something for a fee – especially if it involves the government or your retirement – hang up the phone! Report it to the authorities and let’s send these phone phantoms packing. We’re Nigerians, and we’re smarter than their silly scams!
