Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, the National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has urged Nigerians and non-governmental bodies in the country to rise to the occasion of defending public education, as the sector was in a state of near collapse.
Osodeke made this statement at the weekend while addressing his members at the 22nd National Delegates Conference, NDC, of ASUU held at the University of Jos, Plateau State.
Osodeke had additionally called the relevant authorities to check the Japa syndrome so that the trend does not erode the public education system which was already in a critical state.
