A certain man, Promise Thompson, has been sentenced to death by Hanging by a High court in PortHarcourt for armed robbery, Kidnapping, and Child Theft.
On October 25, 2018, in Rumuolumeni, Obio/Akpor LGA of the state, Thompson alongside his partner Beatrice conspired to steal a five-year-old child, they carried out the plan and stole the child after Thompson shot the parent of the child, Chidiebere Ogbugu
Promise then proceeded to Abia state, where he sold the boy to a child trafficking syndicate which in turn sold the boy to another syndicate.
Henry Aprioku, the Presiding sentenced Thompson to death by hanging, Beatrice his accomplice ran away after she was granted bail, the couples who operated the syndicate he sold the child to, Mr. Lucky, and Queen Chisom Lucky were sentenced to ten years imprisonment for child theft.
