Super Eagles Head coach Gernot Rohr, has included Odion Ighalo in the 23 man squad that will be facing Liberia and Cape Verde in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar qualifiers later this month
The Al-Shabab striker retired from international football after helping the Super Eagles to a third-place finish at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt where he emerged as the top scorer.
The 32-year-old replaced Taiwo Awoniyi in the squad, the latter was part of the squad last month following his fine form for his German club side Union Berlin.
The list was released by the Super Eagles on Monday afternoon, and the replacement of the in-form Taiwo Awoniyi with the former Manchester United striker has raised different reactions from the fans as to whether it was a good move by the Franco-German boss.
Ighalo’s return would see him feature for the Super Eagles come November 13th when they take on the Lone Star of Liberia at the Grand Stade Tangier in Morocco. The team will then fly back to Lagos for their final group game against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde on the 16th of November at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.
