Peter Rufai, a former Super Eagles goalkeeper, has announced his interest in taking up a role in the team’s coaching setup.
Rufai has been tagged as one of the best goalkeepers in the history of football, to have come out of Nigeria.
The 60-year-old has appeared 65 times for the three-time African champions.
Rufai who is an ex-Lokeren goalie has until now, been involved with the national team since his retirement from active football in July 2000.
But of recent, Rufai had thrown his hat into the ring for the Super Eagles goalkeeping job.
He had said during a radio programme: Sports Salsa on Kennis 104.1FM:
“I am ready for them. To show the national team the techniques of goalkeeping. I am patiently waiting to be one of the Super Eagles coaches sometime, someday.”
“Nigeria as a nation has to get it right. We have goalkeepers but there is something missing. You cannot give what you don’t have although we have the talents. Goalkeeping goes beyond just catching a ball.”
