Spending, a close associate of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has addressed swirling rumours claiming he is the biological father of Mohbad’s son, Liam Aloba.
The rumours gained momentum after a blogger shared a viral post online suggesting that Liam shares an uncanny resemblance with Spending. The post quickly sparked debate across social media, once again placing Liam’s paternity under public scrutiny — a topic that has remained controversial since Mohbad’s death in 2023.
In response to the growing speculation, Spending took to his Instagram story to firmly refute the claims and call for an end to what he described as a harmful narrative.
“I’ve been seeing several bloggers insinuating I’m Liam’s father. This is not a joke for real!! To set the record straight, I’m not his father and I never had any affectionate relationship with his mother. Y’all need to stop spreading these false narratives,” he wrote.
Clearly upset by the accusations, Spending emphasized that the rumours are not only false but also damaging to those involved.
He went further to express his willingness to undergo a paternity test if needed to settle the matter once and for all.
“I’m happy to have a DNA done if required,” he added.
Spending’s response comes amid continued public interest in the late singer’s family, especially concerning Liam, who was just a toddler when Mohbad passed away under controversial circumstances. The child’s paternity has been the subject of speculation from the early days of Mohbad’s passing, with various voices online demanding confirmation through DNA testing.
While Mohbad’s family has not made any recent public statement about this new wave of speculation, Spending’s bold response marks the first time a close friend of the late singer has openly addressed and denied involvement in the matter.
The story continues to draw attention across the entertainment space, with many calling for restraint and sensitivity, particularly where a child’s identity and future are involved.
