Moscow has assaulted Kyiv with hypersonic missiles after Ukraine demolished two Russian ships in Crimea.
The U.S Ambassador, Bridget Brink had posted on X on Monday morning:
“Loud explosions in Kyiv. Over the last 5 days, Russia has launched hundreds of missiles and drones against a sovereign country. Ukraine needs our aid now. There is not a moment to lose.”
The attacks are coming after two Russian warships were hit in attacks on the annexed Crimean peninsula on Sunday, Ukraine revealed.
Moscow had said that air defences had shot down over 10 missiles over the port of Sevastopol during the incident in the early hours.
Meanwhile, some parts of the City of Odesa were enveloped in darkness after a Russian air attack wrecked one of the high-voltage facilities.
The Odesa city administration had revealed m on Telegram that the city and the region were attacked by several waves of drones fired by Russia. Four of the air weapons were shot down over the Odesa and neighbouring Mykolaiv regions but debris from a falling drone led to a fire at the power facility, which was promptly put out, the administration added.
At the time of writing this report, electricity has ben restored to two city regions by Monday morning.
It is apparent that the lack of diplomacy has been a significant issue in the Russian-Ukraine war. Some of the blame can be attributed too, to the lack of effective intervention or mediation efforts from the international community to prevent the conflict from escalating to this level.
Ukraine and Russia are also to be blamed for the needless loss of lives as they have both engaged several provocative actions, including destroying Russian ships and conducting retaliatory missile attacks, which have only served to exacerbated tensions and led to further violence.
