A Rwandan court has refused bail to a 34-year-old suspect (a male) who had made a confession, admitting to killing 14 individuals.
Denis Kazungu, the suspect, is being charged for multiple crimes including murder, rape, forgery and defilement of human corpses.
The judge while ruling in the capital city of Kigali, had said on Tuesday, September 27 that the court would remand the suspected serial killer in custody for at least 30 days.
The judge had also remarked that although the suspect had pleaded guilty, he had however, failed to show remorse or ask for forgiveness for his alleged crimes.
The suspect was apprehended by the police on September 5 after his landlord reported him to the authorities for defaulting on his rent payment for seven months.
Officers from the Rwanda Investigation Bureau had upon inspection of the suspect’s home, discovered at least 12 bodies buried in the kitchen of his house two days earlier.
Prosecutors have disclosed that the man had threatened, tortured, raped and then consequently murdered his victims.
