Confirmed: Samson Adamu as CAF General Secretary. He will be the first Nigerian to serve in the position on a full-time basis since CAF came into existence in 1957.
Adamu had been acting general secretary since 29 March, when he succeeded Swiss-Congolese administrator Veron Mosengo-Omba. His appointment was ratified by the vote on Thursday after holding the job for seven months.
“The Federation is pleased with the decision,” said Emmanuel Ikpeme, acting general secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). “We are happy that the new CAF president would be able to project African football and Nigeria in particular and I am confident he can do so.
“This is, indeed, very good news,” said Ikpeme in NFF statement. “I am so delighted with the confirmation of Samson Adamu and I am convinced that he will make Nigeria and Africa proud.
“He is a very perceptive person, who has been a constant learner and a well-rounded professional in football administration business.”

His career in CAF began in 2018 when he was appointed director of competitions. He later became director of tournaments and events.
Prior to this, he worked for ten years at Kinetic Sport Management and was the initiator of the annual Copa Lagos beach soccer competition that hosted several foreign teams to Nigeria.
His selection is a historic feat for Nigerian football administration and the NFF says it will be there for him as he assumes permanent full control of CAF’s daily activities.
