Sean Dyche has been named by Nottingham Forest as their new head coach, the club announced on Tuesday, following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, who was in charge for only 39 days.
After a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea, Forest reacted quickly to sack Postecoglou and hence Dyche to get officials was their first choice. The departure of the Australian marked the shortest permanent managerial reign in Premier League history.
Dyche, who has signed a contract until the summer of 2027, and will be the lead in the Europa League match against Porto on Thursday. The 53-year-old picks up the reins after he was at Everton until he left in January and where he managed to keep the club in the Premier League in the 2023/24 season despite points deductions for financial breaches.
Before that, Dyche was for almost a decade at Burnley, where he led the club to a number of stable Premier League campaigns.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is said to have been considering the likes of Roberto Mancini and Marco Silva, among others, before finally choosing Dyche, who thus becomes the third manager of the club this season.
Nuno Espirito Santo was also sacked earlier after having disagreements with the club’s hierarchy.
Dyche will be under pressure to first get the team back on track in the league and in the European competition as a result of his appointment at the City Ground where he seeks to bring stability.
