The turn of events has taken a dangerous turn in Borno State where a protester was allegedly shot in the early hours of today, 1st August, 2024. This mishap happened during a protest that was conducted throughout the country to demonstrate citizens’ anger over the continuing tough economic times.
In a video by News Central on X, a correspondent in Maiduguri, Borno State, had the chance to report on the situation live. During the media coverage, a correspondent said they heard the gunshots and saw a protester who had been killed by bullets.
To that, the TV presenter, who seemed worried about the people at the scene, inquired if the shots were aimed at the protesters. The correspondent corroborated this by stating they had to flee in order to avoid being shot by random fire.
This event has made the situation more tense and caused concerns with regards to the security of the citizens and journalists who are covering the protests. The attackers are still on the prowl in Borno State and the public is urged to seek a non-violent solution to the conflict while ensuring that the affected are protected.
