Report has it that six people died in a fatal crash at Rama Village, along Darazo- Bauchi Route, Bauchi State.

According to Bauchi State Federal Road Safety Corps, Yusuf Abdullahi, the incident occurred around 8:14 pm on Saturday. They immediately dispatched some men to the area to Curtail the situation. The cause of the crash was wrongful overtaking.

He further explained that on getting there they immediately rushed the victims to the hospital, where six were confirmed dead, and the other six sustained various degrees of injuries, only one person came out of the incident unscathed.

“The crash was caused by wrong overtaking by one of the drivers.

“It involved two commercial vehicles – an ash Toyota bus with registration number DRZ 356ZD and a blue Mercedes Benz trailer with no number plate as of the time of the crash.

“When we got the call informing us of the crash, our rescue team rushed to the scene for the rescue operation. They immediately evacuated the victims to the Darazo General Hospital for treatment and confirmation.

“It was at the hospital that a medical doctor confirmed six of them dead. Six other people sustained different degrees of injuries, while only one person escaped unhurt,” Abdullahi stated.

Vehicle drivers must keep to the rules and regulations of the road, as they owe a duty of care to their passengers. Nigerians are very fond of disobeying road rules, and this is very dangerous as it could lead to fatal accidents.
