The skit-making industry in Nigeria has become a booming business, attracting both male and female creators. However, there is a disturbing trend among some skit makers who resort to creating highly offensive and derogatory content just to gain popularity and make money.

Recently, a skit maker named Abdullahi Adisa, also known as Trinity Guy, faced consequences for a viral skit that crossed the line. The skit, lasting just over 38 seconds, involved the sexualization of a young girl, as she was coerced into discussing explicit details about the skit maker’s genitals.

The Oyo State Police Command took action by summoning Trinity Guy and emphasizing their zero tolerance for violence, sexual abuse, and extreme content disguised as entertainment. While the police force recognizes and appreciates creative endeavors, they strongly condemn any form of content that harms or offends others.
The police said, “the slightly above (38) seconds video clearly depicted the sexualization of a female minor who was compelled in a conversation with the skit maker to describe his genitals.”

“Moving forward, the Oyo State Police Command genuinely appreciates the energy and effort invested by every creative mind in his/her craft.

“The Command however appeals strongly against offending the sensibilities of others through violence, sexual abuses and other extremities in the name of entertainment,” the statement added.

Trinity Guy, realizing his mistakes, publicly expressed gratitude on his Instagram page, acknowledging the constructive criticism and guidance provided by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi. Adejobi, acting in a paternal role, pointed out the areas in need of improvement and rectification, leading to Trinity Guy’s acknowledgement of his wrongdoings.

It is crucial to denounce such actions and bring attention to the proliferation of immoral videos circulating online under the guise of skits. The prevalence of degrading and offensive content raises concerns about the lengths some individuals will go to solely for financial gain.
