Imo State Peace Movement, an organization, has denounced the recent wave of murders, abductions, home fires, and other acts of violence in the South-East, particularly in Imo, Enugu, and Ebonyi states.
Speaking to journalists in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Saturday, the coordinator, Chidubem Ogbenna, strongly denounced the killing of Nollywood actress Osita Iheme’s older brother and the burning of an INEC office by unknown assailants in the state on December 11.
According to Ogbenna, the South-East cannot support Biafra by killing Igbo, and the level of government protection for locals in the area has decreased as a result of the deaths of security personnel in the area.
He said, if we initiate war on our own in Igbo country (but God forbid), we would only lose our people, our properties, and everything we stand for as individuals, but if we engage in peaceful discussion, we may accomplish what we want. Furthermore, without a government to announce and sign our independence, it is impossible.
