Disgruntled by the relatively high cost of living in Nigeria, the United Marketers Association Potiskum, UMAPO, has held a special prayer looking for God’s intervention in this harsh economic realities in the country.
The prayer session which held at Government Day Secondary School’s (GDSS) playground in Potiskum town had attracted several men, women, children and many religious scholars as well.
The congregation had observed two units of prayer seeking solace from God as the present Nigerian situation seemed to defy man-made solutions.
While speaking with newsmen at the venue of the special prayer, Nasiru Alhaji Mato, the Executive Chairman, UMAPO Potiskum, had remarked that they were compelled by the current economic crisis to hold the prayers to ask God for help.

He added that since the removal of fuel subsidy, the cost of foodstuffs and other essential commodities had been on the rise, leading to incomprehensible hardships, even as the unemployment rate in the country remains on the high side.
Mato also commented on the Federal Government’s palliative program, saying that it was a temporary move and not a sustainable solution.
Finally, the UMAPO Executive Chairman appealed to the federal, state, and local governments to launch a committee that would come up with practical solutions to stabilize the economy and to look for sustainable ways of decreasing the high cost of living in the country.
