Sporting Lagos FC of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), has unveiled Abdullahi Biffo as its new head coach, succeeding Paul Offor, who was recently relieved of his duties.
Biffo, renowned for his attacking and possession-oriented style of play, brings a wealth of experience and success to his new role. Notably, he guided Kwara United to a continental football spot with a third-place finish in 2021 and boasts an impressive record of six State FA Cup victories throughout his career.
Having managed various clubs in the NPFL, including Abia Warriors and Niger Tornadoes, Biffo holds the distinction of leading two clubs from the Nigerian National League (NNL) to promotions. Additionally, he served as the inaugural coach of FC Dender, now Remo Stars.
Following a stint honing his coaching skills in the United States, where he focused on training coaches and developing young talent, Biffo expressed eagerness to return to Nigerian football. He lauded Sporting Lagos for its vision and expressed pride in joining the club.
“The Club has really quality players, some of whom I’ve worked with before, and I’m looking forward to continuing the work of making this a Club Lagos is proud of,” Biffo remarked, highlighting his admiration for the existing talent at Sporting Lagos.
Sporting Lagos Chairperson, Godwin Enakhena, expressed optimism about Biffo’s appointment, emphasizing his wealth of experience and the club’s commitment to maintaining an attacking style of football. Enakhena affirmed the club’s excitement about the future under Biffo’s leadership.
Coach Biffo wasted no time stepping into his new role, immediately gearing up the team for their upcoming fixture against his former club, Katsina United. With Sporting Lagos currently occupying the 11th spot on the NPFL log, Biffo’s appointment signals a new chapter for the club as they aim to climb the standings under his guidance.
