The governors of the 36 states of Nigeria have scheduled an emergency meeting for today, Wednesday, over the proposed new minimum wage.
This development is coming after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, on Tuesday, June 25, stepped down the memo on minimum wage.
Recall that the 36 governors had previously rejected the proposed N62,000 minimum wage by the federal government, declaring that some states would have to borrow money if the amount was implemented.
The organised labour on the other hand is adamant about its demands for a N250,000 minimum wage.
According to reports, the Acting Director on Media and Public Affairs of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, Halima Ahmed, revealed that the governors would meet in Abuja by 7 pm today, Wednesday, June 26 over the matter.
