Nigeria’s Super Falcons secured their place in the third round of the 2028 Olympic Games women’s football qualifiers after defeating Comoros 5-0 in Tuesday’s second leg in Ikenne.
Toni Payne and Uchenna Kanu scored two goals each, with Christy Ucheibe converting a penalty for Augustine Eguavoen’s team as they advanced to the next stage, winning on a 7-0 aggregate having recorded a 2-0 win away.
Nigeria got off to a good start with Gift Monday firing straight at goal before the home team hit the woodwork twice as they looked for the first breakthrough.

And the moment of joy arrived in the 41st minute when Kanu intercepted a stray pass from Comoros goalkeeper Aicha Said before squaring the ball for Payne to score.
Kanu scored Nigeria’s second in the 58th minute, a header from a pass by substitute Folashade Ijamilusi.
Payne earned her brace in the 63rd minute as a result of another fine finish from Okpe, while Kanu scored her brace too, three minutes later with yet another header from Ijamilusi.
Ucheibe scored the final goal of the game through the penalty kick in the 71st minute after Okpe was fouled inside the box.
Victory pushed the 10-time African champions into the next round of qualifiers as they prepare to tackle Morocco in their quest to reach the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
