Third place is not what we were hoping for, still, the girls gave it their all in the WAFCON semifinals, the odds were against them as nine players went up against eleven in the second half and Atlass Lionesses failed to score any goal. They were defeated on penalties. It shows that despite the defeat, our girls are still the giants of African women’s football.
Halimat Ayinde and Rasheedat Ajibade are suspended from the game after receiving red cards in the semifinals.
