A Jos area Court had on Friday, November 11, sentenced a suya seller, Sani Ali, aged 50, to 30 days imprisonment for attempted car theft.
The panel of judges had comprised Malam Sadiq Adam and Mr. Hyacinth Dolnanan and they had sentenced the suspect after he had pleaded guilty to theft and pleaded with the court for leniency.
The convict had then been given an option of an N 10,000 fine by the Judges.
Previously, the Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Monday Dabit, told the court that the case was reported to the ‘A’ Division Police station on October 21, by Mr. Audu Julius. According to the Inspector, Ali had forcefully opened the complainant’s car door and attempted to drive away with the car.
The offense, according to the prosecutor contravened the provisions of sections 333 and 57 of the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
