Actress Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, has unveiled photos from her wedding to Nigerian singer Oluwatosin Ajibade, widely known as Mr Eazi.
PUNCH Online reports that the couple held a private ceremony in Iceland in August. They had previously announced their engagement in April 2022, when Temi shared a video of the proposal on Instagram, and hinted at plans for an intimate wedding.
Temi, who now goes by Temiloluwa Ajibade, updated her social media on Friday with her new surname, captioning the post: “Mr and Mrs Ajibade. Now on voguemagazine.”
The couple celebrated their union with three ceremonies in different countries: a wedding in Monaco on May 9, coinciding with Mr Eazi’s late mother’s birthday; a Yoruba traditional wedding at the Otedola family home in Dubai two months later; and a white wedding in Iceland in August.
Vogue Magazine shared 99 photos from the celebrations and recounted how Temi and Mr Eazi first met on a chilly night in London in January 2017, when the singer attended a performance by Temi’s sister, Florence. Five years later, the proposal took place.
Speaking to The Office Magazine, Mr Eazi described how Nigerian culture shaped their ceremonies.
“We brought Nigeria to Dubai in Temi’s family home. All the food, the officiant (the Alaga), and the attire of staff, guests, and performers were traditional Yoruba. The band was the legendary King Sunny Ade, and all the food was Nigerian,” he said.
He added, “Our outfits included Yoruba wedding attire, and we also wore Iseleuku attire to honor my late mother’s Ibo heritage. The event felt just like a wedding in Lagos.”
The singer revealed that the weddings have influenced his music. “I want to create more love songs, stripped-back acoustic tracks I can perform at future Nigerian weddings,” he said.
On his most memorable moment, Mr Eazi shared, “It was surreal seeing Temi and I get married in Dubai with close friends and family present. I’ll never forget when she described me, calling all my names including the special one my mum loved.
“Also, just before she walked into the church, the organist played my mother’s favorite hymn. As she entered, the cloudy sky turned sunny—it was truly magical.”
