Erik Ten Hag has assented to the fact that the issue with his team started in the preseason. Manchester United started this new season with a woeful performance, as they lost their first two matches, putting them at the bottom of the premier league table.

According to Ten Hag, the team was doing well, until the friendly match with Athletico Madrid, where he noticed some loopholes in the squad. This isn’t new in the world of football, as every club has its weak times, but the major focus is to make sure the team recovers.

Clearly annoyed over his team’s shambolic performance in the match against Brentford, Erik Ten Hag has said, that he was very upset about the team’s performance, as they played the match with a wrong mindset, individually, the players didn’t play the match with a winning spirit.

Ten Hag said: “I’ve seen really good things, until Atletico Madrid [the friendly in Oslo]. After it, it’s a drop. We have to turn that around quickly, but it’s normal in the process. You grow and then you get a drop. But it’s about keeping the right pattern and the pattern going up.”

He also said: “It was clear that last Saturday I was unhappy with that factor. I think it’s the basic stuff, what you have to bring at least as an individual and as a team on the pitch, but also what the fans can expect from us. That is what we didn’t do. I feel really sorry after Saturday’s game what we delivered for our fans.”

Manchester United is to play Liverpool on Monday night. This will definitely be a match to watch, as both Manchester United and Liverpool are desperately trying to get points
