Abdulahi Nyako, Atiku Abubakar’s private secretary, was a former vice president of Nigeria and presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party.
Mr. Nyako died in the early hours of Thursday morning.
He was a lawyer who had been the previous vice president’s mentor and longtime associate.
Atiku is reported to have described Abdullahi as more than just a helper; in every meaning of the term, he was a member of his family. He added that he gave him diligent and devoted service. “We will sincerely miss him.”
He offered the Nyako family his sincere condolences on behalf of his family and pray that the All-Powerful Allah may give them peace and strength. He also asked Allah to pardon his transgressions and grant him eternal life.
