Operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) Ilorin Zonal Command have detained 62 people in Ilorin, Kwara State, for their involvement in internet fraud (popularly known as yahoo-yahoo).
The arrests, made in two different operations, featured Raji Wasiu Babatunde, whom the commission had detained, prosecuted, and convicted last year.
This time, the ex-convict was apprehended alongside 25 other suspects in an early-morning raid on Thursday in several locations in Ilorin.
Following information, the anti-graft officers apprehended another group of suspects in their city hideouts on Friday, leading to the arrest of a serving corps member, Salaudeen Muhammed, and 35 others.
Exotic cars, several brands of phones and laptops, charms, and other items were recovered from the accused.
The individuals would be charged after the investigations are completed, according to the EFCC.
