The Fashion Highlights from Anant Ambani’s Wedding

One of the most luxurious weddings of the year has arrived, drawing dignitaries from around the world. You may have glimpsed snippets of this wedding on social media, but why are Hollywood’s biggest celebrities attending?

What Is the Wedding About?

The reason is straightforward: Anant Ambani, the groom, is the youngest son of India’s (scratch that, Asia’s) richest man, Mukesh Ambani. His bride, Radhika Merchant, is the daughter of two wealthy pharmaceutical tycoons in India.

Their wedding ceremony and the events leading up to it for the past five months have been estimated to cost about $600 million —a considerable undertaking for the son of the man who is worth about $123 billion.

Mr Ambani got married to his longtime close friend and beau on Friday, 12 July, at the Jio Convention Centre in Mumbai but the fun didn’t end there, as this weekend will span the weekend in a 3-day affair that is guaranteed to be a lavish, opulent event.

Which Celebrities are in Attendance?

There are about 1,200 estimated celebrities in attendance at this wedding, the list of which includes politicians, popular musicians, sportsmen, tech magnates, Bollywood royalty and of course, Hollywood celebrities.

Some of these dignitaries in attendance for the wedding ceremony were reality TV stars Kim Kardashian and her sister, Khloè Kardashian; FIFA president, Gianni Infantino; fashion stylist, Law Roach; actors, Priyanka Chopra (and her husband, Nick Jonas), Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan and John Cena; and ex-prime ministers, Tony Blair and Boris Johnson, among others.

In the months, leading up to the ‘I Do’ moment, when the now newly-weds hosted their engagement and pre-wedding parties, Rihanna and Akon had hosted a concert exclusively for the Ambani’s and their close family and friends while Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates made a guest appearance for that event.

Quite recently though, Justin Bieber held a special performance for the couple and their close family. It is reported that Bieber was paid a whopping $10 million for that event.

On the wedding day itself, Rema performed his chart-topping song, ‘Calm Down’ to an excited crowd of attendees.
