Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, has presented the 2023 appropriation bill to the House of Assembly for consideration.
According to Mohammed, the ‘Budget of Accomplishment and Renewed Commitment’ includes N202,641,558,614 in capital and recurrent expenditure.
While recurring expenditure is estimated to be N87,923,242,953 (43%) of the budget, capital projects are estimated to consume N114,714,558,650 (57%) of the budget, according to the governor.
Because of inflationary tendencies and current economic realities, the 2023 budget is around 2.6 percent higher than the N179 billion budget for 2022, according to Mohammed.
Speaker of the Assembly Abubakar Suleiman stated that, as in the previous three years, the House would give the budget serious and prompt study before passing it into law before the end of the year for implementation at the start of next year.
He urged all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to assist in the smooth operation of the process by providing all pertinent information and explanations that will be required throughout the budget defense.”
