A three-day burial plan for the designer of the Nigerian national flag, Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, has been set and it will begin on Wednesday, September 4 and end on Friday, September 6, 2024, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital city.
Meanwhile, Akinwumi Akinkunmi, the son of the notable designer had released a statement on behalf of the family, on Monday in Ibadan, requesting for the nation flag to be flown at half mast in honour of the deceased during the burial.
Akinkunmi had also expressed his appreciation to the Federal Government for its concern, especially in regards to the condolence visit of a delegation led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Mohammed.
But he had said that the family was still hoping to receive the support that was promised by the Federal Government.
What They’re Saying
Akinkumi’s statement read,
“We thank the Federal Government for sending the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Mohammed, to pay condolence to the family when the incident happened.“We are still hopeful of hearing from the government as regards its promises in respect of the burial plan.
“While the family is waiting for the government to fulfil its promises, it appreciates the roles played by members of the 7th Oyo State House of Assembly, the Chairman, Oyo State Advisory Council, Bolaji Ayorinde, and members of the council for standing by the family.”
