The United Nations Human Rights Council will begin a five-week session in Geneva on Monday.
During this time, the council plans to investigate violations and promote human rights across the world. Items on their agenda include Russia’s activities in Ukraine, potential war crimes committed in Ethiopia, and the suppression of women in Afghanistan and Iran.
The council will additionally be examining Myanmar, South Sudan, North Korea, and Belarus; however, they have decided not to address China’s mistreatment of its Uyghur Muslim population.
The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is scheduled to open this session of the council.
