The violence continues, even even though the elections have been concluded and the votes are being collated. Reports have it that some thugs attacked the Independent National Electoral Commission in Obingwa LGA in Abia State.
The commission revealed this invasion on their Twitter page, According to them, the Commission has informed relevant Security agencies, and they’ll soon issue a statement as to the issue.
Thugs have invaded our Obingwa Local Government Area office in Abia State.
“Security agencies have been alerted. The Commission is monitoring the situation and will issue a statement shortly,” the post read.
It’s a pity that in this day and age, elections in Nigeria are still being disrupted by thugs, this is an indication that our security agencies are not duly carrying out their tasks because INEC offices should be guided by security agents. We hope that INEC offices in other states will be protected by security agents because the Vote of every single Nigerian must count.
