TikTok has defended itself after the social networking app was banned from government phones in the United Kingdom and Wales.
The decision was made due to concerns that the Chinese government could access critical data on official phones.
As part of a Welsh Affairs Committee examination into the shifting television landscape, MPs have been questioning social media executives.
TikTok’s Giles Derrington stated that the UK government has found “no specific issue” with the app.
He explained to the committee that the removal from government phones was done purely precautionary.
Similar prohibitions on the Chinese-owned app are in effect in the governments of the United States and Canada, as well as the European Commission.
