An unidentified source has confirmed that the APC presidential candidate for the 2023 presidential elections, Bola Tinubu has finally decided on his pick of a running mate for the 2023 general elections.
News Association of Nigeria -NAN has stated that this report was confirmed by a highly-competent source in the Tinubu Campaign Organisation who pleaded anonymity. The source also stated that Tinubu would reveal the name of his presidential candidate sometime in this new week.
The anonymous source said, “The vice-presidential nominee may very likely be an ex-governor and senator from the Northeast part of Nigeria. The person is also by accident of birth a Muslim, confirming what Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State said yesterday that Tinubu had settled for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.’’
The source also said that the APC presidential flag-bearer didn’t choose his running mate based on religion, but by considering factors such as competence, exposure, and intellectual depth.
“The considerations given for the choice of a running mate were dictated by the need to select an individual capable of working with the presidential candidate to take Nigeria to a greater height,’’ the source added. Tinubu is expected to travel down to Daura, Katsina state, on Sunday, to pay Sallah homage to President Muhammadu Buhari and also inform him of his choice of running mate.
The APC presidential flagbearer submitted Alhaji Kabir Ibrahim Masari’s name- a Katsina politician as a placeholder to meet up with the Independent National Electoral Commission -INEC’s deadline.
