Femi Gbajabiamila, the current Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been appointed as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This decision means that Gbajabiamila will no longer serve in the upcoming 10th National Assembly. Gbajabiamila, who won his sixth term as the representative of Surulere Federal Constituency in Lagos State, made the announcement through his Chief of Staff, Olanrewaju Smart Wasiu, on his official Facebook page.
According to the statement, the President carefully considered various potential candidates and chose Gbajabiamila based on his loyalty. This move is significant as Gbajabiamila will leave his position in the House of Representatives to join the executive branch.
Sources mentioned in the statement indicate that Gbajabiamila was chosen over James Faleke, who campaigned effectively for Tinubu, because the President wanted someone who could help garner support for his proposed policies among lawmakers in the National Assembly.
