A recent payment of N19.98 million made by the Nigerian Presidency to Rock of Ages Total Events Limited for the “total decoration of Sheraton Hotel for an event of 300 people” has created questions as regards to what this expenditure is meant for and if it is transparent.
According to the public payment portal, Govspend the payment was done on July 5, 2024; however, it remains unclear what exactly necessitated this decoration expense.
Additionally, during the Presidential dinner anniversary which held on June 12th some additional N57.8 million was spent by the presidency on catering services and paid to Regal Limited on July 5th. This was linked to the Democracy Day celebration held at the State Banquet Hall in Presidential Villa.
Further criticism has arisen regarding payment of N19.98 million deposited into Adi Cynthia Ada’s personal account on July 13, 2024 for replacement of “worn-out entertainment” items. This transaction contradicts Tinubu’s administration’s transparency and accountability when it comes to public funds usage.
These expenses have raised eyebrows about the administration’s dedication towards open governance and wise management of taxpayers’ money.
