Igor Tudor parted ways with Tottenham Hotspur after 44 days as interim head coach. The club has confirmed this on Sunday.
Tudor was initially appointed to lead Spurs out of the crisis following the unsuccessful regime of Thomas Frank; however, the team’s performance did not witness any improvement. Apart from that, the club was still only one point clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League.
Atletico Madrid scored a very heavy 5-2 win in the Champions League last-16 first leg, which was a big blow for Spurs. Besides that, league defeats to Crystal Palace, Fulham and Nottingham Forest also aroused the fans’ worries.
The club also issued a statement regarding the recent bereavement of Tudor’s father and extended its best wishes to the family during this difficult time.
Still, the Spurs have to eke out a survival against what seems to be an insurmountable challenge, a predicament they have not found themselves in since the 1970s. Names such as former manager Harry Redknapp and Adi Hutter have already surfaced as potential candidates.
