In order to comply with the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement, the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment yesterday unveiled the Nigeria Trade Information Portal (NTIP).
Adeniyi Adebayo, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, stated during the unveiling that the NTIP was a result of collaboration with the UNCTAD, with assistance from the European Union and German Technical Cooperation.
The establishment of an online information portal that clearly explains import, export, and transit procedures is a great step towards the improvement of transparency, predictability, and a mechanism for trade facilitation reforms in Nigeria, according to a statement released by the Special Assistant to the Minister on Media, Ifedayo Sayo.
The Minister lists the following as some of the NITP’s key features: “a content management system where all texts, colors, pictures, and logos of the public interface can be modified; procedures and all associated data can be registered and updated; menus can be organized; and administrative rights can be easily configured from the password-protected administrative interface. System administration can be learned with a few hours of training and doesn’t require any prior computer experience.
