The dastardly attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train on March 28, 2022, which saw the death of several Nigerians and the kidnap of other Nigerians, caused a sore in the heart of Nigerians, as journey by train which was regarded as the safest means of traveling turned out to be most dangerous. Nigerians have waited so eagerly for the masterminds to be arrested.
Three terrorists were arrested at Damba Community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State by men of The Defence Headquarters. One of these terrorists confessed that he was one of the masterminds of the Match 28 Abuja-Kaduna train attack.
This information was made available on Thursday in a Statement, by General Musa Danmadami to News respondents.
According to the statement, Acting on an Intel, the troops got information about the presence of Boko Haram members, in the Damba community on Valentine’s day.
On February 16, the troops encountered the terrorists at Ungwan, Birni in the Kajaru Local Government Area of the state, they had a firefight with the terrorists, the troops however overpowered seven of the terrorists and the rest seeing that they could not combat the troops fled.
He also revealed that several ammunitions were recovered from the terrorists, in the North West Zone, that the troops were able to capture 9 of the terrorists, and we were able to successfully rescue 23 Kidnapped civilians.
The statement partly read, “Similarly, troops of Operation Whirl Punch on February 14, 2023, responded to information on the presence of Boko Haram Terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province kingpins at Damba community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Also, on February 16, 2023, troops on fighting patrol made contact with terrorists at Ungwan Birni in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Following fire fight, troops neutralized 7 terrorists while others fled.”
He stated that troops in the North West Zone recovered 10 AK47 rifles, 83 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 238 rounds of 7.62mm special, 2 locally fabricated rifles, 1 locally fabricated pistol, 7 magazines, 19 motorcycles, mobile phones, 30 rustled cattle, and other sundry items, adding that troops neutralized 23 terrorists and arrested 9 as well as rescued 23 abducted civilians.
