The Operation Hadarin Daji troops had on Friday, July 14, freed nine abducted victims in the Bukuyyum LGA, Zamfara State.
According to reports, the troops had acted on a distress call while they were carrying out their routine patrol and providing protection for farmers in their farmlands. The cry for help had come from Mailere village under Gwashi district in the Bukuyyum region.
The troops had then swiftly mobilised themselves to the scene of the incident where contact was made with the armed bandits at the entrance of the community.
The armed bandits had eventually been subdued with superior firepower, forcing them to run and abandon the nine kidnapped persons they had held hostage.
As at the time of filing this report, the victims have been successfully reunited with their respective families.
